The good news? It’s never too late to start. What’s more, you don’t need to have a six-figure salary or investment portfolio to benefit. Financial advice is about support, structure and peace of mind, regardless of what stage you are at in life. As for your current earnings – we focus on your earning potential!
Life is Complex and so is the Financial Landscape
The Irish tax system, investment markets, pension rules and protection policies are constantly changing. The average person doesn’t have time to keep up (nor should they have to).
Whether it’s understanding ARFs vs annuities, optimising your pension contributions, or managing inheritance tax, a financial advisor brings clarity, structure and expertise.
What the Numbers Tell Us
The 2025 Value of Advice report by Brokers Ireland looked at the real-world outcomes of people who worked with a Financial Broker. The findings are worth paying attention to.
Those who sought advice felt more confident, more in control and were financially better off over time, every time. On average, they had significantly more saved and invested than those who had not taken advice and almost twice as many said they felt financially secure in retirement.
Those surveyed (over 1,400 people across Ireland) were also more likely to understand their pension options, be aware of tax entitlements and hold protection policies like life cover or income protection. These are all things that can make a huge difference if life throws the unexpected your way.
But beyond the facts and figures, what stood out most was this: over 50% of those who received advice said they felt more in control of their finances. And for many people, that sense of clarity and confidence is just as valuable as the returns.
Financial Planning Isn’t Just About Chasing Returns
A good financial advisor won’t sell you a product or overwhelm you with jargon. They’ll help you see the full picture – what you have, what you want and the steps you need to take (in which order), so you can achieve your goals.
Financial advisors help their clients with many aspects of life, including:
- Protecting your family
- Reducing tax
- Getting your savings working
- Estate planning
- Making informed decisions at life’s key milestones
- Ensuring you have enough to enjoy life, now and in retirement
Your Life Will Change. Your Financial Plan Should Too
Marriage, children, a new home, retirement, redundancy or bereavement – your financial needs evolve. A good advisor helps you adapt your plan as life unfolds.
At Lynx Financial Services, we don’t just offer once-off advice. We build long-term relationships to support you through every life stage. We have advised clients through some of their most important milestones: the purchase of their first home, setting up savings accounts for their young family, moving house, cashing in the college fund to help set their kids up for their career – all the way to retirement. There’s only one member of the team that’s old enough to have seen all stages, but we’ll let you guess who!
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The right advice depends on your lifestyle, your plans and what you value now versus in the future.
What the Research Shows
The research from Brokers Ireland (available as a download here) shows that advice makes a positive difference in the lives of those who seek it out. Here are just some of the highlights:
- Individuals who received financial advice have an average of €93,547 in savings and investments, compared to just €54,618 for those who did not.
- Advised individuals have a 46% larger pension pot on average: €127,796 vs €87,275.
- Over half of those who received advice feel more in control of their finances, with 1 in 4 saying they are financially better off as a direct result.
- Advised individuals are twice as likely to feel financially secure in retirement.
This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about peace of mind and knowing your future is looked after.
A Trusted Guide Through Life’s Big Decisions
Buying a house. Starting a pension. Receiving an inheritance. Planning for retirement. Starting a business. Each milestone comes with big financial questions.
Without proper advice, many people make costly or emotionally driven decisions. A good financial advisor will help you:
- Set realistic goals
- Understand tax-efficient strategies
- Avoid common pitfalls
- Stay calm when markets fluctuate
This is where the value of experience, structure and perspective really comes into play.
